My Interests

To give you a sense of who I am and what interests me, my resume includes details about my family and my interests. I am an active participant in Stanford Law School's Three Strikes Project. I also commissioned a study, which compiles and summarizes civil jury verdicts from Tulare County from 2004 through 2008. I have also travelled extensively, and I am interested in a wide range of subjects beyond the practice of law.

I believe the parties benefit when their mediator or arbitrator is a person who participates in the community, cultivates outside interests, and explores the world.

In 2015, I proposed a national kidney voucher program to Dr. Jeffrey Veale at UCLA Medical Center.  I was the initial donor, donating one of my kidneys to a recipient in current need and "banking" a voucher for a future recipient of my choice, my grandson. There have now been over twenty voucher donations as part of the UCLA program and it is growing to other medical centers across the nation. On June 28, 2018, I will speak at the 10th Anniversary Gala supporting the Nation Kidney registry in New York City.
